Scripture Union Daily Guide 21st July 2025 Outline

What will make Samson, “a Nazarite, dedicated to God from the womb,” blessed by the Lord, and a man who was already being used by the Holy Spirit (Judges 13:5,24-25) consider marrying a woman among the “pagan Philistines” (Judges 14:1-3; Deuteronomy 7:3)? Samson was careless with his life. He was not sensitive to the directions of God, though he was aware that his special strength was from God. He allowed his personal interest to interfere with the will of God for him. We must take our calling seriously, guard our hearts against lust and intimate relationships with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14-18).

How do you understand Judges 14:4? It is important to clarify that even though God, sometimes outworks His purpose through a misbehaviour, ungodly decisions and outright sinful actions of individuals or people, that does not justify such actions as God’s will (Exodus 7:3;Exodus 14:4; Matthew 26:24). It is so unfortunate that instead of standing firm on God’s word, Samson’s parents conceded and followed him to marry the Philistine woman (Judges 14:5).

And So
Be not deceived: evil companionships corrupt good morals (1 Corinthians 15:33)!
